My Background

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State, providing telehealth therapy to adults and couples for 15 years. In 2011, I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and began my career working with veterans thru the Department of Veteran Affairs. I had always enjoyed helping others, and it is such a privilege to witness people making real changes to improve their lives. It never stops being awe inspiring. This really motivates me and makes the work we do extremely rewarding. I’ve worked with many different clients thru the years and have learned so much. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know them and support them in their life journey.

A significant portion of my clinical career has been working in an outpatient mental health program that focused on a combination of individual and group therapy. Initially, I was a clinician within the program and then became the supervisor where I managed operations for 3 sites across Central NY. We provided services on a wide array of topics and issues. So, one of my unique strengths as a clinician is a deep repertoire of clinical information and techniques that I have provided thru the ongoing development of our programs. Some topics that I’ve covered over the years in sessions include anger management, anxiety and stress reduction, assertiveness training, managing bipolar disorder, setting boundaries with others, moral injury, coping with depression, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, self-compassion, improving sleep, living with post-traumatic stress, and learning to live a sober life.

Therapeutic Approach

My primary areas of expertise are anxiety, trauma related issues, depression, substance abuse, and relationship counseling. I also have extensive experience in working with veterans and their families. My work integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples (EFT-C).

My approach to therapy is client centered, trauma informed, and flexible. Treatment is guided and shaped by your experiences, preferences, and goals. I value creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel respected, supported, and understood. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I work closely with clients to identify goals and approaches that align with their needs.
